I went to Menards yesterday to talk to a store associate about bamboo blinds.
I thought the bamboo would give a nice, breezy, beachy look to the room.
Like this dining room:
Not in my size.
Bummer.
=(
So I found a store associate, and started talking shop.
"Can I special-order these in a different size?" -Me
"Yes, but no one has yet because instead of $20, you'll pay $300" -Menards lady
"Yeah, that's not going to happen. I see that you can cut down vinyl shades. Can you cut down bamboo shades as well?" -Me
"No. The shade isn't made to make adjustments." -Menards lady
"Thank you for your help!" -Me, thinking obviously you don't know what I'm capable of.
Silly girl.
So I took them home, studied it a bit, then cut them up.
And they work perfectly.
Moral: Don't believe everything you hear. Believe in your own capabilities instead.
I wish, wish, wish, I could show you my bamboo blind accomplishment, but it would give away the entire room, so I can't.
I haven't gotten a mailing invoice yet from Ebay, so I don't even know when I'm getting my box. Therefor, I have no idea when I can show you the room!
But as a little peek, I'll show you that I've been bringing in lilacs by the bucketload!
Cala lilies are my favorite flower to look at.
Lilacs are my favorite flower to smell.
I can't wait to transplant all those bushes!
Tomorrow:
-How to get wax out. (A decor project for the living room)
Just said the same thing, Brittany. Just said the lumber dude at Lowe's is a tool for acting like 1., I'm a woman so I couldn't possibly have access or be able to use a saw and 2., I must be a moron for picking trim for what I want to use it for.
ReplyDeleteDon't hardware stores know that the DIY-er is their customer?
Oooh I can't wait to see the room!! Lilacs are my favorite spring scent, ooh love it!
ReplyDeleteI bet your room is picture perfect. I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteI'm very interested in your 'blinds'story...would love to see details, and hopefully, there is a tutorial on it's way? Once you've revealed the room of course. ;)
A friend of mine who's really into Ugg boots was told by a saleswoman that she MUST use their expensive suede cleaner and suede protector etc. for the boots as they shouldn't really get wet. The woman nearly fainted when my friend (who owns about eight pairs) told her that she'd been washing her Uggs very successfully for years in the washing machine! The salespeople do try it on. xx
