Message Board Revamp

Remember when this message board...

...was replaced with this?

Well, I'm not the type to waste a perfectly fine old message board!

So I took all the junk off.

And took all the strings off.

It was re-matted, re-strung, and my wedding necklace placed in the middle.

A nice little memory =)

Total Cost: Completely Free!

I'm thinking about lowering the necklace and putting a wedding photo on the top half. We'll see...

Ugh, I have one more V-Day project, but the big day's tomorrow, and I'm going to be soooo busy with my step-son's party, so I don't know if there will be a post on it.

Maybe if I have time tonight.

Repurposed Valentines Decor

I love repurposing things. Even if it's not something huge (like a dresser into an island).

My mother-in-law gave me this winter-themed tapestry. Not really my style...

BUT she gave me free liberty to do with it as I wanted.

And I've been decorating for V-Day.

So, I measured out the length of the top pole.

Then I cut two 1x4 boards that length.

I primed, painted, distressed, and drilled holes to hang them.

Then I added a bit of dark stain to the edges to really bring out the distressing.

Then the fun stuff...

I used my Cricut to cut out "BE MINE" on contact paper.

Then I pressed that firmly down on the boards.

I spray painted chocolate brown on top of that and carefully peeled the contact paper off while it was still wet. You want to do it while it's wet so that the edges won't stick to the contact paper, and it will give a cleaner edge.

Then I tied the pieces together with twine, tied that to the bar, and hung!

Cost: Completely Free!!

It's looking pretty festive around my house ;)

Table Skirt Video Tuturial

Woohoo, my first video post!!

I made a table skirt.

Okay, I know I look like butt in this video. Don't make fun of me! 

I threw my hair into a pony as soon as I woke up so I could get down and dirty.

No, really though, this is me on a decent day:

hm....I don't LOVE this picture, but "take an awesome self-portrait for my blog" is on my February To-Do List, so I guess I can live with it....for now!

Things to be aware of while you watch the video:
-the crazy disgusting garage. (We only clean it in the warmer months. Hey...Winter lasts 9 months here!)

-the lack of baseboard in my bedroom. (I told you that my house is odd!)

-The amazingly ugly carpet in the bedroom (I want hardwood floors, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do it once you get to the top of the stairs....maybe I should finally hire a pro...ha!)
