Silverware Windchime

Good day, good day.
Had an awesome gathering last night. A few buddies, nothing special. We lit the fire pit and had a good time.
Anyways, yesterday I put out the garden toadstools, silverware windchime, and fixed the copper one. So as promised, here's the how-to on the windchime:

Silverware Windchime
-------------------------
saucer
teacup
8 pieces of silverware (I did 5 spoons and 3 forks)
Fishing line

you'll also need good drill bits. One to to through porcelin, and one that's heavy duty enough to go through stainless steel. I also used a drill press.

1. Drill two holes through the teacup near the center next to each other.
2. Drill 6 holes through the perimeter of the saucer. Keep the drill bits small. Then drill two holes near the center next to each other.
3. Change up your drill bits and drill a hole in the hande of each of your silverware. On one spoon, drill a big hole through the spoon part. This will serve as a point to hang it from.
4. String fishing line through each of the spoons/forks and tie through the holes in the perimeter of the saucer. If you made the holes small enough, the knot shouldn't fall through.
5. Put a dab of glue on each knot. Fishing line likes to unravel, and I found that out the hard way.
6. String your fishing line through another piece of silverware. I chose a bigger spoon. This one will aid in moving the center ball (teacup) to hit all the silverware.
7. You should have to ends of the line in your hand after looping it through the spoon. Tie a knot above the spoon about 6 inches up. Your teacup has two holes. String one string through each, and the teacup should sit securely on it. Tie a knot on the top also, (I had my teacup upside-down so it wouldn't hold water. I did that with the saucer also)
8. Tie another knot some inches above the teacup for the saucer to sit on. Length depends on how long you made the string for the silverware. You need to make it long enough that when it hangs, it will hit somewhere on the silverware. Too low and it obviously won't make any sound.
9. Put your saucer on, then tie a knot on top also. Tie the extra string around the handle of your last spoon (the one with a hole on each end).
10. Hang it up by the huge hole on the top spoon and enjoy!

Some pictures of my garden for you to enjoy also!

Gotta love the West End

So I FINALLY made my silverware windchime, and it's already broken! I didn't even get to take pictures.
APPARENTLY my neighbor doesn't like windchimes. I hung two of them yesterday, and it happened to be a very windy day. My neighbor started staring me down.
I can tell the string was cut. And she's the only person who knew I hung it. I'm just doing the math.
But I will prevail. I just need to go to the thrift store and pick up another saucer. The teacup survived the damage

Anyways, ya know what really scares me? The fact that this woman is a sex offender....and she was IN MY YARD! I think I would have just cause to take a baseball bat to her spine or knees if I EVER caught her in my yard.

So...today:
-Bring Will to dr. appt in a few minutes to get his meds HE NEEDS THEM! (done)
-Pick up his meds, then drop him off at school. (done)
-Pick up neccesities for our trip this weekend to Milwaukee. (done)
-Fix the windchime
-Give Will a haircut
-Give Hailey a bath.
-Start packing for the trip
-Go shopping with my mother-in-law for my nephew's birthday
-Wrap the present
-Find someone to come and let the dog out this weekend
-Go to Will's baseball game
-Watch a movie with the fam

May 19 to-do

Ugh, I still haven't begun making my own garden toadstools yet. I got called into work last night, twice, so get the place looking good for the big haunchos coming in today.

Today's To-Do
------------------
Go grocery shopping (half done)
Start making toadstools (done)
Give boys a haircut (half done)
Give all kids a bath (2/3 done)
Laundry (done)
Dishes (done)
Will's baseball game (done)
Clean, clean, clean
Rent Indiana Jones for family to watch tonight (done)
Shovel more dirt for the patio
Make cookies

No, I won't get that all done. It's almost noon and I haven't done any, so I know damn well I'll only get a few done.

Bundt Cake

Busy day yesterday.
I had to work almost all day. I haven't been able to go to church every Sunday because of it, though. So after work, my husband went golfing with a friend, and I got a little bored. So I made a bundt cake!

Yellow Frosted Bundt Cake
----------------------------------
I had cake mix and frosting in the pantry, and ya know how they have the directions for different sized pans on the box? This one happened to also have cooking directions for the bundt form, so it inspired me to bust out the bundt pan.

Cake mix
(ingredients that your cake mix wants)
Frosting
Sprinkles

1. Preheat the oven to whatever. Spray all around the inside of the form. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CENTER THING!
2. Mix everything up according to the box and pour it in your form.
3. Bake it as long as directed (mine was around 40 minutes)
4. Let it cool. If you greased it properly, it should just fall out when you tip it over. Put it on a plate.
5. Heat up your frosting for 30 seconds (yes, the frosting says not to do this, but if it's more liquidy, then it will keep the form of the cake, and if I was going to make a bundt cake, I wanted it to look like a bundt cake)
6. Pour that all over the cake. You might have to keep spooning stuff off the bottom and putting it on bare spots.
7. Smother it with sprinkles. (my son's suggestion)
8. Pop it in the fridge to re-harden the frosting.
9. Display on a pretty cake plate! (I have a 3-way one from Younkers! A LivingQuarters brand. Pick one up!)

One of these days I'm going to do that from scratch, but I love to keep the boxed stuff around for those times when you just get off of a REALLY long day at work and don't feel like putting in all the extra work.

Get-rid-of-your-old-veggies-soup, instant cream of potato

ok ok, I know I've been neglected the recipes. But I have some "interesting" ones for ya tonight.

Soooo....I had to work all day, so I'm really lazy with the supper. But I still wanted to cook.
Then....I noticed that my veggies will be going bad soon. And I have NO MEAT in my house. Nothing. Nadda. So, here's the recipe that I made:

GET RID OF YOUR OLD VEGGIES SOUP
---------------------------------------------
Now, you need to use things that compliment each other. If you want to get rid of potatoes, pair it with green beans and corn.
But that wasn't the case.
Broccoli
Cauiliflower
Parsely
Celery
Carrots
chicken bouillon cubes
crap-load of water
egg noodles

Chop everthing up, dump everything in. It actually tasted really good! So now I made room in my fridge and didn't waste anything =)

Now here's a kicker:
I was making cream of potato soup. You can buy these cute little packets and just add milk and butter. I had it all set up, ready to get ride of my "almost bad" red potatos and..........crap, they're already spudding. K, we aren't eating those.
So I dumped a bunch of original potato flakes in, and BAM! turned it into yummy instant potatos! (After being around Emeril pots/pans I am now speaking like him)
